Unlike Seomyeon or Jeonpo, the area around Dongnae Station doesn’t have many independent cafes. The neighborhood is mostly packed with crowded meat restaurants and bars. Perhaps that’s why finding a quality, specialized cafe here feels like discovering a hidden treasure.
Among the busy streets and just a short walk from the station, there is a standout spot: Gullgirl (걸걸), a boutique handmade ice cream cafe.
The Real Taste of Ingredients
What makes Gulgul special is that their ice cream isn’t artificially sweet. It focuses on bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients. During my visit, I tried two flavors: Pistachio and the seasonal Seolhyang Strawberry Sorbet.
- Pistachio: It had a deep, nutty richness that only real pistachios can provide. It felt very wholesome and savory.
- Seolhyang Strawberry Sorbet: This seasonal treat captured the fresh, tart sweetness of Korean Seolhyang strawberries perfectly.
Both were incredibly refreshing and well-balanced.

We all know that feeling—after a heavy meal or a few drinks at one of Dongnae’s many restaurants, you suddenly crave something sweet and cold. Gullgirl is the perfect place to “pop in” for a high-quality dessert before heading home. Since it’s located so close to Dongnae Station, it makes for an ideal last stop for your night out.
